i was seriously skeptical of the new designers who took over such an iconic design house as Valentino, especially after watching this. But this collaboration is new, youthful, and respectful of the Valentino culture and romantic aesthetic at the same time. I like the use of leather and chiffon together- a cool play on hard and soft. there is also a cool transparency thing going on with lace. and the shoes are stunning.

i remember loving the artistry of this eye-makeup at the Chanel Fall 2009 runway…they did these really cool white/black appliques on the bottom lash line…. i have been experimenting in a more subtle way with a great white kajal eye pencil i got from Rimmel London (i like it a lot!), lining the inner corner of my eye and using a trick i learned from Kandee Johnson to make eyes look whiter, brighter, and bigger (I have notoriously bloodshot eyes that need extra precautions ha) by lining the bottom rim of your eye in the white pencil…it works!

Frédéric Fekkai glossing creme has saved my hair! I love this stuff and am so lucky to have stumbled upon it (i got a free sample at Sephora). This stuff is perfect for every hair type. It is a lightweight shine/defrizzer/finishing/styling creme in one. You can put it in your hair when it is wet and style, or you can put a little on as a grooming creme after you heat style your hair. This is also amazing when you want your hair to air dry and want a little extra polish and control. I sware by this! It makes my coarse/unmanagable/thick hair smooth, glossy, frizz-free, and tames my split ends. Available at Sephora or Ulta.

I heard about Alba’s UnPetroleum Jelly on Kandee Johnson’s blog. This is multipurpose and all-natural. No petroleum or harsh chemicals. It has coconut oil, beeswax. It won’t clog your pores. She swares by it as an all-over sealant for your skin (puts it on after she puts on her night creme to lock it in). Perfect as chapstick (it is glossy and looks like clear lipgloss on your lips) and since it is all-natural, it is o.k. to put on your mouth. Perfect for taking off eye makeup. Perfect for any dry skin, really. I find this stuff to work better than Aquaphor (and I was a hard core Aquaphor addict) and Vaseline. Love it! I got mine at Whole Foods.

I tried this oatmeal cookie recipe that is more natural/less processed/more healthy. they are pretty dang good if i do say so myself. I found this recipe on the internet (it is a modified recipe of the one found on the container of my Old Irish style oats). I used organic old fashion Irish oats, whole wheat flour, honey (substitute for sugar), canola oil (instead of butter) lots of yummy spices, dates, and pecans. You can always tweak the recipe, that’s what makes it fun!

i always research makeup/hair/personal care products before i buy anything… here are some good sites to check out product reviews and products that won “best of”. And of course, we all love Kandee Johnson!

www.sephora.com – seriously, this is the best place to read hundreds of customer reviews on each product sold there. i love how the reviews say the reviewers hair/eye color, hair type/texture, skin type etc. i always find reviewers who have similar coloring or skin to me and find out which are the best shades/ products for me. you can also post a question to a forum about any product question (i.e. which Nars Multiple looks best on fair skin tones etc.) and people can answer your question/make reccomendations. so amazing!

self.com has really good reviews each year on the “best of” certain products in different categories like face, skin, hair, body etc. the website also has really great beauty forums on everything from how to make your makeup last in summer, to DIY beauty with contents of your fridge and from the best sunscreens on the market to eco friendly beauty products and tips.

sooo i am halfway done with finals! then i’m off to singapore from may 15-24 (IF swine flu permits). and then i’ll be home!

I haven’t posted in a while so i thought i should get on hurrrr. SO…i don’t know if you have seen this before, but the sartorialist is a pretty big fashion blog and i think it is really cool! this guy just takes photos of real peoples’ outfits on the street in places like new york, paris, and milan. who knows, maybe he’ll snap a shot of keenz sometime soon.
