i was seriously skeptical of the new designers who took over such an iconic design house as Valentino, especially after watching this. But this collaboration is new, youthful, and respectful of the Valentino culture and romantic aesthetic at the same time. I like the use of leather and chiffon together- a cool play on hard and soft. there is also a cool transparency thing going on with lace. and the shoes are stunning.

^^^ check out the crazy artistry of the heels in the video

valentino9my favorite…it looks like lace but it is made from leather.

Dior’s Spring 2010 collection fascinated me… very inspired by film noir and transparency/lingerie. the hair and makeup is so stunning.

this collection is so beautiful, so romantic, so wearable. LOVE.

S/S 2010, NYFW

loved his S/S 2010 show at NYFW.

very romantic clothes. very beautiful makeup.

spring 2010

a past season that i was in love with.

Spring 2010. BEAUTIFUL.

i remember loving the artistry of this eye-makeup at the Chanel Fall 2009 runway…they did these really cool white/black  appliques on the bottom lash line…. i have been experimenting in a more subtle way with a great white kajal eye pencil i got from Rimmel London (i like it a lot!), lining the inner corner of my eye and using a trick i learned from Kandee Johnson to make eyes look whiter, brighter, and bigger (I have notoriously bloodshot eyes that need extra precautions ha) by lining the bottom rim of your eye in the white pencil…it works!

” The enigmatic Rei Kawakubo has come together with plenty of unusual partners, but her latest collaboration just might beat all. It’s with The Beatles. Comme des Garcons and Apple Corps Ltd. – the London-based company that manages the legacy and musical catalog of the British band – are teaming up to launch a new collection of bags under The Beatles/Comme des Garcons label, with the first styles slated to debut mid-November at Dover Street Market, Kawakubo’s multi-brand emporium in London, and Gyre in Tokyo, with additional distribution to follow. While details were scarce at press time, the deal with Apple Corps is a long-term one, and could see Kawakubo also design other items such as T-shirts.”

I love the blog Fashion Toast…. Rumi Neely is so cool. I love her street style…this blog is kind of like The Sartorialist, except she is in many of the street style photos. Her style is FREAKING cool, and she mixes high end with inexpensive pieces. Love these pictures from her blog…..

I read about this new cook book on Allure’s Beauty Blog. This sounds like it could be fun!

“Plenty of people think that fashion insiders don’t love food, and that the industry thrives on a steady diet of canapés, champagne, and cigarettes. But the CFDA’s new cookbook The American Fashion Cookbook: 100 Designers’ Best Recipes by Lisa March proves that fashion is inextricably linked to haute cuisine. The book dishes out the best recipes from the likes of Isaac Mizrahi, Carolina Herrera, and Derek Lam—who, by the way, don’t shy away from carbs (Mushroom truffle pasta! Chocolate chip cookies!)—and they’re all accompanied by fashion illustrations by the designers themselves. Slaving over a hot stove has never been so fabulous.”
